What are your plans for 2010? Have you made any New Year resolutions?
Christine and I are resolved to exercise regularly, get more sleep, and eat healthier. We want to lose weight and gain energy. Looking better and feeling better about ourselves is something we not only want for ourselves, but for each other - and it is just more fun working on it as a team with my partner. This summer will mark our 25th wedding anniversary and I'm planning for a special celebration that I'll keep secret for now. My goal is to lose a pound a week between now and July 27th - our anniversary date.
To me, life just seems to come into better focus when I have set goals and made plans. It gives me that mark to strive towards. So, have you set your goals going into 2010? What better time than to do it now as we enter a new year, on the cusp of a new decade. Doesn't 01/01/2010 just seem like a fresh start? It is - let's put the recession of 2009 behind us and look towards what lies ahead. I know our Lord has already made His plans for this coming year and He has included you and me in them. In fact, He's counting on us, just like we are counting on Him. Let us move forward together into this new season, encouraging one another in the body of Christ, to carry out our Father's plan.
I feel emboldened by the Holy Spirit to urge you to take that "uncertain" step forward in faith this coming year. That is why we call this our walk in faith. Every great journey begins with one step forward. Just set your sights on the Lord. We may not know the path, but Jesus does and He promises to be a light unto our feet. He will light the way one step at a time.
"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6.
I am closest to my Father when I am counting on Him to lead the way. He holds my hand and some days He even carries me. God bless you on your path towards Him this coming year. Remember to include your friends on the trek.
